DB2 Open Beta Program This summer, IBM started the open Beta program for the new release 9.5 of DB2 UDB for LUW under the nick name Viper 2. We participate in the beta testing to get first experiences with the new functionality. [October 18, 2007]
DB2 UDB and LINUX Since the end of November 1999 we are working with two servers with LINUX and DB2 UDB. At the moment we use DB2 version 8.2.4 and Oracle 10g with Fedora Core 3 [64-bit] and SuSE version 10. At the moment we are testing DB2 V9 Beta ("Viper") with Fedora Core 5 [64-bit]. [June 21, 2006]
DB2 Net.Data und XML Net.Data, the script language of DB2, generates not only HTML but XML as well. Unfortunately, the XSLT stylesheets of the Net.Data samples are not compatible to the W3 standards. They consist of proprietary statements of Microsoft's XSL version. Therefore they can be used by the Internet Explorer for a transformation at the browser's side, but not by most transformation programs using W3 standards. Here you find the We use Apache 2.0 with the module mod-xslt ( mod-xslt, implemented by Philipp Dunkel, is written in C and therefore lean and easy to install. [April 09, 2003].
Residency at the IBM Almaden Reseach Center in San Jose Heinz Axel Pürner stayed from January 28 to March 16, 2002 at the International Technical Support Organization (ITSO) located at the Almaden Reasearch Center of IBM to co-author a redbook.

DB2 UDB Version 7.2 After participating in the beta program for DB2 UDB version 7.1 we installed the official version for Win NT and LINUX. Using FixPack 3 we migrated on to version 7.2, which we are using now with NT and LINUX. At the moment we prepare the installation and test of version 8. |
New Book Our book "Die DB2-Steuerzentrale" (DB2 Control Center) has been published now. The book is written in German. [July 2001] |
